Lorraine Michelson was born and raised in West Los Angeles. As a child she was drawn toward creative projects where her natural artistic talents could be expressed.  She received her formal training at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. It was during her college years she was most influenced by Abstract Expressionism and the training she received by Professors from the Yale School of Painting.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from SAIC in 1991 While studying in Chicago Lorraine was interviewed for a television series titled "Emotional Art."  Lorraine returned to the Los Angeles area and involved herself in Art Education.  The Los Angeles Times did a feature story on a mural project her students had created in Altadena, California.  Now a resident of Sierra Madre, California, Lorraine has created a series of paintings of local historical sites.  She has shown her Sierra Madre images at both the Sierra Madre Canyon exhibit and the renowned annual Wisteria Festival.  In 2006 the Pasadena Star News featured her in their Wisteria Festival coverage. Lorraine is becoming well known for her expressionistic color and strong textural paintings.
